Propolis
Propolis is a resin substance that bees produce from tree buds. It is most commonly used in an effort to kill bacteria and ward off infection. Propolis is packed with flavonoids, and may have antibiotic, anti-fungal, and antimicrobial properties. It also contains a compound known as caffeic acid phenethyl ester, which possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have found that diluting and topically applying propolis to a burn may soothe the wound better than many over-the-counter burn medications. Additionally, it may help to stabilize blood sugar, boost the immune system, and hinder cell growth in certain cancers.
